British Columbia is bordered by Washington State to the south, Alberta to the east, the Northwest and Yukon territories to the north. British Columbia is known as Canada's gateway to the Asia-Pacific and is economically and geographically part of the northwest region of North America.

As a Province of Canada, British Columbia has a parliamentary system of government. The government is made up of ministries, agencies and other offices.

| CORPORATE REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY |
- Effective July 2, 2002, annual reports for domestic British Columbia companies must be electronically filed (BC Online)
- Extra-provincial companies will continue to file paper reports with Corporate Registry
- The majority of the directors must be British Columbia residents
- A numbered company is possible in British Columbia
- A numbered "corporation" is an entity that is issued a number by the corporate registry such as "842613 British Columbia Ltd."
- The objective of a numbered company is to avoid having to do a Name Search (Name Reservation)
- The entity is assigned the next sequential number issued by the Ministry in the jurisdiction. It cannot be self-selected
