INTRODUCTION |
Newfoundland is an island located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the larger labrador portion is on the eastern part of the Canadian mainland. Newfoundland is Canada's most easterly province and its newest having joined Confederation in 1949. The population is approximately 531,600 in Newfoundland.

As a Province of Canada, Newfoundland has a parliamentary system of government. The Newfoundland government is made up of ministries, agencies and other offices.

CORPORATE REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY |
- A minimum of one director for profit corporations and a minimum of three directors for non-profit corporations are required
- A numbered company is possible in Newfoundland. A numbered "corporation" is an entity that is issued a number by the corporate registry such as "842613 Newfoundland Ltd."
- The objective of a numbered company is to avoid having to do a Name Search (Name Reservation)
- The entity is assigned the next sequential number issued by the Ministry in the jurisdiction. It cannot be self-selected
- An Annual Return is due by December 31
