INTRODUCTION |
The Northwest Territory includes most of northern Canada - all the area north of the provinces and between the Yukon and Nunavut. The population is approximately 40,000 in the Northwest Territory.

LAW AND TAXATION |
As a Territory of Canada, the Northwest Territory has a parliamentary system of government. The government is made up of ministries, agencies and other offices.

CORPORATE REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY |
- A numbered company is possible in the Northwest Territory
- A numbered "corporation" is an entity that is issued a number by the corporate registry such as "842613 Northwest Territory Ltd."
- The objective of a numbered company is to avoid having to do a Name Search (Name Reservation)
- The entity is assigned the next sequential number issued by the Ministry in the jurisdiction. It cannot be self-selected
- The Annual Return is due on the anniversary date of the registration in the home jurisdiction (domestication). There is a one-month grace period
- If the company fails to pay by the end of the grace period, the company will go out of good standing
- The company will be struck off after two consecutive years of not filing the Annual Return
