Prince Edward Islandis the smallest of the Canadian provinces both in size and population. While it is densely populated, it is not overcrowded. The current population of Prince Edward Island is approximately 140,000.

Prince Edward Island is part of the Canadian federation which consists of ten provinces and two territories. Each province and territory has its own democratically elected parliamentary form of government. Power is shared between national and provincial governments.
